Finally — Peripheral Neuropathy Treatment That Works

410-694-7217

Experience real nerve healing through our in-clinic and at-home programs. No drugs. No surgery. Just results.

Are you still feeling the burning pain, tingling, or numbness of Peripheral Neuropathy — even after trying everything?

Is it getting harder to walk… to sleep… to just get through the day?

Are you scared it’s only going to get worse?

You’re not imagining it. And you’re not alone.

By the time most people come to Chesapeake AIM, they’re in a dark place. They’ve seen neurologists, pain doctors, podiatrists. They’ve tried injections, surgeries, medications. They’ve been told to “learn to live with it.” Or worse — that nothing more can be done.

But they’re still in pain. Still losing feeling. Still falling. Still wondering if they’ll end up in a wheelchair… or worse.

Peripheral Neuropathy is a progressive, degenerative disease. Left untreated, it destroys quality of life. It robs people of their mobility, independence, and dignity. We help people who are hanging on by a thread — people who are exhausted from trying, but still holding out hope for a solution.

And the truth is: it’s not too late.

We Treat the Root, Not Just the Symptoms

Peripheral Neuropathy happens when the nerves in your hands or feet become damaged — often from diabetes, chemotherapy, medications, or unknown causes.

The result? Shooting pain. Numbness. Loss of balance. A growing sense of fear that things are only going to get worse.

But the truth is: Nerves can heal — if you give them the right support.

At Chesapeake AIM, we use a personalized, drug-free approach designed to stimulate nerve repair and restore your function. Our therapies are non-invasive, backed by science, and built around real results.

What Makes Our Approach Different?

While most doctors offer medications to numb the pain, our treatments go deeper — helping your body repair the nerves themselves.

ATP Resonance BioTherapy™

A microcurrent frequency-based treatment that enhances cellular communication and stimulates nerve regeneration.

O3 Reboot Therapy™

A breakthrough oxygenation technique that supports healing at the tissue level.

Electro-Acupuncture

Merges traditional acupuncture with millicurrent technology to jumpstart nerve recovery.

Home-Based Therapy Program

Ideal for distance patients, with daily device use, bi-monthly reprogramming, and regular phone and live video support.

These are not “one-size-fits-all” solutions. Every program is customized to your symptoms, history, and goals — starting with a comprehensive consultation.

Traveling for Care? We’ll Help You Every Step of the Way

We’re located just 30 minutes from Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI) and approximately an hour from Reagan National Airport (DCA) and Dulles International Airport (IAD).

We’ll send you a personalized travel packet with information about local airports, directions, and a list of recommended hotels nearby — including several we partner with for discounted rates. Our team is here to make your trip smooth and stress-free.

What to Expect

Quick & Painless

Whether you’re receiving treatment in our clinic or using the at-home program, our therapies are designed to be quick and painless. In-clinic sessions typically last about 30 minutes, while at-home device use fits conveniently into your daily routine.

Treatment Course

The amount of treatment needed to support nerve healing varies from person to person. This is determined after a detailed neurological evaluation during your consultation.

The Process

For in-clinic patients, treatments are usually scheduled 2-4 times per week until maximum improvement is achieved. For at-home patients, daily use of the therapeutic device, combined with bi-monthly reprogramming and regular remote support, guides your progress. Once optimal results are reached, a maintenance plan—often 1-2 sessions or uses per month—is prescribed to prevent regression.

Absence of Symptoms

Many patients experience a complete absence of Peripheral Neuropathy symptoms through consistent treatment—whether in-clinic or at home—even in severe cases that have persisted for years.

Who We Help

We treat all major types of peripheral neuropathy, including:
  • Diabetic Neuropathy
  • Chemotherapy-Induced Neuropathy (CIPN)”
  • Idiopathic Neuropathy (unknown cause)
  • Neuropathy from medications, alcohol, or autoimmune disease
You don’t need a referral, and you don’t need to “wait until it gets worse.” Early intervention gives the best results — but even advanced cases improve with the right care.

Still Wondering If This Will Work for You?

You’re not wrong to be cautious. Many of our patients felt the same way.

They’d been told:

  •  “You have to learn to just live with it.”
  •  “There’s nothing more we can do.”
  • “Try this new drug and see if it helps.”

But their symptoms only got worse — until they found a team that finally understood how to treat the root cause and support true healing of the nerve cells.

Is It Safe? How Fast Will I See Results?

Yes — our therapies are safe, gentle, and carefully monitored by experienced clinicians. Many patients report noticeable improvement within 6 weeks, especially in pain reduction, sensation, and balance.

Your treatment plan is reviewed regularly and adjusted based on your progress.

Frequently Asked Questions

I don’t live near Maryland — can I still get treatment?

Yes. Many of our patients travel from out of state for their initial consultation at our clinic in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. After this one-time, in-person visit, the rest of your program can be completed from home through our distance care model. We’ll provide a travel packet with airport info (BWI, DCA, IAD), recommended hotels, and tips to make your visit easy and comfortable.

What is Peripheral Neuropathy?

Peripheral Neuropathy is nerve damage that affects the peripheral nervous system, which includes the nerves outside the brain and spinal cord. This damage can cause a variety of symptoms, including burning, stabbing, or “electric” pain, numbness, and weakness—typically in the hands and feet. Peripheral Neuropathy often leads to debilitating balance problems, difficulty walking without assistance, and reliance on a walker or wheelchair. It is usually progressive, meaning it tends to worsen over time if left untreated.

What causes Peripheral Neuropathy?

Peripheral Neuropathy occurs when the peripheral nerves become damaged or diseased. A primary contributor is poor blood flow and nutrient delivery to the nerves, which leads to gradual degeneration. However, there are many potential causes:

  • Diabetes – The most common cause in the U.S., due to high blood sugar damaging nerves over time.
  • Chemotherapy – Neurotoxic effects from certain cancer treatments can lead to chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN).
  • Medications – Some drugs, such as statins and antibiotics, may contribute to nerve damage.
  • Alcohol abuse – Long-term alcohol use can lead to vitamin deficiencies and direct nerve toxicity.
  • Autoimmune diseases and infections – Conditions like lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and Lyme disease can also affect nerve health.
  • Idiopathic neuropathy – In many cases, no clear cause is found, though symptoms are still present and require treatment.

At Chesapeake AIM we care for all types of peripheral neuropathy—regardless of the underlying cause—using non-invasive, personalized therapies that promote nerve regeneration and improve function. A comprehensive consultation helps us tailor the appropriate treatment program for you.

How common is Peripheral Neuropathy?

Peripheral Neuropathy is quite common, especially among older adults. Approximately 8% of people over the age of 45 are diagnosed with it, but the actual number is likely much higher due to underdiagnosis and misattribution of symptoms.

The risk is even greater among individuals with diabetes or those undergoing chemotherapy. Because the condition often develops gradually, many patients delay seeking care until symptoms become severe. Early intervention is critical to slow progression and preserve quality of life.

What treatment options are available at Chesapeake Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine?

We offer both in-clinic and at-home programs to treat peripheral neuropathy. All care plans are non-invasive, drug-free, and tailored to the individual. Treatment options may include:

  • ATP Resonance BioTherapy™ – A gentle, frequency-based therapy that enhances cellular communication and powerfully stimulates nerve regeneration.
  • O3 Reboot Therapy™ – An oxygenation-based treatment that encourages tissue and nerve healing.
  • Electro-Acupuncture – Combines traditional acupuncture with electrical stimulation to stimulate nerve repair.
  • Home-Based Neuropathy Therapy Programs – Includes daily therapeutic device use, a printed success journal for tracking progress, bi-monthly device reprogramming, and regular remote support.

These therapies are used to address neuropathy caused by diabetes, chemotherapy, medications, or unknown origins. Your personalized treatment plan starts with a thorough consultation.

How effective are your treatments for Peripheral Neuropathy?

Many patients report noticeable improvements within the first few weeks of care. Success stories include individuals who have reduced or eliminated numbness, burning, and tingling, regained balance and mobility, and returned to activities they had previously avoided. Consistent treatment leads to the best results, and progress is closely monitored and adjusted as needed.

What makes your approach different from traditional treatments?

Traditional medical treatments for peripheral neuropathy often rely on prescription medications to mask symptoms, with little focus on healing the nerves themselves. Our integrative approach is different—we focus on stimulating the body’s own repair mechanisms using therapies like ATP Resonance BioTherapy™, O3 Reboot Therapy™, and electro-acupuncture. Our goal is to address the root causes of nerve damage, not to just mask the symptoms.

How can I schedule a consultation?

If you’re in Anne Arundel County or the surrounding area, call us at 410-694-7217 to schedule your in-person consultation. If you’re located farther away, start by taking the qualification quiz on our website. Once submitted, our team will review your information and contact you to discuss next steps.

Does weather affect Peripheral Neuropathy symptoms?

Yes, for some people, changes in weather—especially cold temperatures or humidity—can worsen neuropathy symptoms like pain and stiffness. During your consultation, our team will review environmental and lifestyle factors that may be impacting your symptoms.

What can I expect during my first visit to Chesapeake AIM?

During your initial consultation, Dr. Smithmyer and her team will take time to fully understand your symptoms, medical history, and goals. You’ll receive a personalized treatment program, which may include in-clinic therapies or at-home care options, depending on what’s best for your situation.

Are the treatments at Chesapeake AIM safe?

Yes. Our treatments are safe, gentle, and provided after a comprehensive consultation to ensure they are appropriate for your condition. Our team continuously monitors your progress and adjusts care as needed to maximize effectiveness and safety.

How long does it take to see results from neuropathy treatment?

Many patients begin to experience relief within the first six weeks of starting treatment, especially in terms of reduced pain. However, each person’s healing timeline varies. Our team tracks your progress carefully and makes adjustments to your care plan as needed to keep you moving forward.

Can Chesapeake AIM help with other conditions besides neuropathy?

Yes. In addition to treating various forms of peripheral neuropathy, we also support patients dealing with chronic pain, autoimmune conditions, fibromyalgia, post-stroke recovery, and more. To find out if we can help with your specific condition, contact us directly at 410-694-7217.
